The 22nd Season of the
Summer Concert Series

FORTE
Smithfield’s widely acclaimed jazz combo, Forte, has
performed throughout the mid-Atlantic region, but always
calls Smithfield “home.”

MAY 30
GOSPEL NIGHT
The Gospel Country Messengers and
the Main Street Men of Music raise your spirits.

JUNE 6
YORK RIVER BAND
The York River Band has performed in Smithfield
for more than a dozen years.

JUNE 13
THUNDER CREEK
This bluegrass combo has wowed the Smithfield crowd
for the past two years and is returning for a rousing concert.

JUNE 20
U.S. AIR FORCE BRASS QUINTET
A unique concert—an all-brass quintet playing classical music
as well as show tunes and old favorites.

JUNE 27
THE FABULOUS REPLACEMENTS
A new group for the Summer Concert Series present
favorite oldies.

JUNE 29
LITTLE BIT OF SWING
Glenn Boswick's band brings back the age of swing.
(Note: This concert closes Olden Days.)

JULY 11
TIDEWATER CONCERT BAND
A combination of classical, patriotic and Broadway tunes.

JULY 18
SOUTHSIDE HOMEWRECKERS
Piedmont and Delta Blues is the specialty of this
Richmond group making its second appearance in Smithfield.

JULY 25
BOB ZENTZ
Virginia’s best known folk musician has put together
a concert celebrating 400 years of music in Virginia.

AUGUST 1
U.S ARMY DIXIELAND BAND
A new group to the Times Square stage,
their name says it all. Get ready to swing!

AUGUST 8
PENINSULA CONCERT BAND
Another friend of the series, the Peninsula band has been
performing here for more than a decade.

AUGUST 15
U.S. NAVY FOUR STAR EDITION
The Navy’s Four Star Edition will bring contemporary and
classic rock and roll to the stage.

AUGUST 22
FLATLAND
Bluegrass is a favorite in Smithfield.
Flatland promises to deliver.

AUGUST 29
NAVY FLEET FORCES BAND
The Navy’s concert band has closed the series
for the past five years. The concert is co-sponsored by the
Town of Smithfield and is presented at The Smithfield Center.
Copies of this special 20th Season
Commemorative Poster are available
for a $10 donation to
Smithfield Music, which supports youth music
education programs in Isle of Wight County.
The Summer Concert Series is presented
at 8 PM on Fridays
on the lawn at Times Square
(200 block of the Historic District)

Bring a chair or a blanket and enjoy.
The concerts are free.
